How We Help

> Fuldaer - Integrations - Stiftung (FIS)

In the German town and in the administration district of Fulda, parents of handicapped children have been involved in accomplishing better education and general living conditions in an association called “Gemeinsam Leben – Gemeinsam Lernen” [Live together – Learn together] for over 17 years now. The German charity campaigns for values such as love, grace of charity, friendship and solidarity.
In 2004 they established the “Fuldaer - Integration - Stiftung” which initialized among others a pilot project for assisted living.

The “Fuldaer - Integration -Stiftung” FIS strives as well as the association GL-GL for better general living conditions and chances for handicapped people. Just as the name “Gemeinsam Leben – Gemeinsam Lernen” stands for a political program and a task at the same time, the association builds the addition and the basis for their shared goal - integration.

In 1990 when the association was established it was common for handicapped children to be looked after in so-called “Sonderkindergärten” (special kindergartens) where only children with disabilities were sent to. Mutual tuition didn’t exist at this time.
Today all handicapped children attend the local kindergarten and 10% of the pupils going to the elementary school attend integrative classes.

Living project “Noah’s Arc”

Growing older the question arises how they can stay integrated being autonomous from their parents in such a rural community. The living project “Noah’s Arc” set up by the charity aims to make sure that handicapped people can stay in their familiar environment and can keep their already existing social ties.

Currently a house for six people with disabilities is established in Bimbach - a town in the eastern part of Hessen.

It is possible to observe the construction process on the internet. The FIS is also providing visits to the construction site to survey the way the donated money is used. It is also intended to create a board in the entrance area on which the names of the patrons will be written down. Furthermore, the association will offer the possibility of visiting the completed building project to get in contact with the people who will be living and working there.

Handicapped people need your help and your donation can make a change.
The FIS fights sacrificially for these children and adults for better living conditions and the chance to life a happy and dignified life.
This social engagement needs and is definitely worth your contribution.
